I'm in Salem/Roanoke, VA today with Caedmon's. We go on in about two and half hours. If you're not aware of this, there are typically three singers in the band, a married couple, Cliff and Danielle, and then me. I probably sing a quarter of the songs at this point.
Well, Danielle probably just went into labor with their new baby girl. So she and Cliff are both in Houston.
And I have to sing lead. For the whole show. I am not excited about this.
You see, I've been in this band for five years now, but I'm still sort of the new guy. I feel bad that people are coming to see a certain band and instead they get me.
Still, we ran through all the songs and I think it will go pretty well. Rehearsal/Soundcheck was a bit grueling, but it calmed my nerves and I think we'll have fun.
This scenario has played itself out, in various forms, I believe seven times now. Two of which featured my in-laws in the audience. Tonight will be the second of those.
So I'm going to call them and see if we can have dinner. Then we'll play a show, for better or worse. Please keep Danielle, the baby, and their family in your prayers this weekend. And maybe throw a bit in for me tonight...

you know andy you really should not be so hard on yourself, because the caedmon's call concert i went to had people in it calling out "normals rock" and stuff like that. plus your a great musician and isn't that what concerts are all about... great musicianship/showmanship.
I've prayed that Jesus will shine through you tonight. Just so you know: I bought the new Caedmon's Call cd because of YOU. I'm glad I did - I love it!
The audiance will be excited to hear about your friends new baby girl and all they'll wanting you to succeed in entertining them. So you have everything going for you. I'll say a pryer for you. God will listen. Good Luck.
Ah, God's just keeping you on your toes!
I just read your interview in Colossians Three Sixteen and I had to laugh. At least you've learned BigBang is a Norwegian band now.;) The questions were amazingly good, by the way. I wish more interviews could be like that one...
Andrew: John Stamos and I wish you well, my friend.
you'll do great brother. hang in there.
you are so damn talented! CC is lucky to have you.
It's nature's way of making more people aware of how much of the writing you did for Overdressed. You'll be fine.
I do not envy the predicament you've gotten yourself into. Must be insanely nerve wrecking. You should come play in Mississippi some time. I'd buy a ticket.
Josh: Maybe you should book him locally. ;)
Me and my husband were at the concert tonight at Fellowship and we loved it. The songs were great and you did a great job. Thanks so much for a wonderful show.
Excellent concert tonight at FCC. Sorry you had to put up with Rodney Painter. He's my running and cycling buddy.... So I know what you had to deal with :-)
Seriously, you guys rocked the house. I really enjoyed the reflective songs off your solo effort. Almost Bob Seger-ish in a way. Thanks man!
You were fantastic! I'd say, as a long-time CC fan, that you officially earned your Caedmon's stripes in my eyes tonight. I loved how real you were with us and truly enjoyed myself. And I nearly cried with laughter when you had to fix the audience's clapping. I wasn't clapping, as I claim no rhythm. I do think, however, that since my church doesn't have a percussionist and I counted FOUR on the stage at one point...you all need to share. That's an embarrassment of riches, dude.
Thanks for a great night, Andrew.
I think you did a great job . Evey one seemed to have a great time in Salem tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing you in concert again. God Bless
Geof: I'd love to, but i am afraid i got no way to pay for it, no venue to use, no anything i'd need to set up a decent show... But man it'd be awesome if I did... Music like Andrew's is just way way underappreciated where i live anyway...
swing by Blacksburg and I'll play with ya!
Did derek sang?
