I'm realizing that the makeup of who reads this blog continually changes as it grows. That's a good thing, because growing makes greater my ability to keep doing this for a living.
I want to take the next couple of days to try and find out a bit more about who you are, faithful readers. For those of you who come by a lot but don't post comments, now's a great time to start! So take a few minutes, grab your ePencils and your iPaper and leave your answers as a comment. Here we go...

6. If money was no option would you live near the water, in the woods, in a city or on a dirigible that circled the globe on a tri-monthly basis?...probably in the woods. not a big fan of the water...but i do love to travel.

A. Last.FM says it's Elliott Smith, then Wilco, then Over the Rhine. Sounds about right, and it keeps anyone whom I actually know off the list entirely, which ... well, it's a good thing. I don't want to say that I like one of you better than the other.
B. The three shows that I enjoy the most at the moment are: Veronica Mars, How I Met Your Mother, and The Amazing Race.
C. Listing books is perenially difficult for me, because it's almost always a list of books I've read most recently. But if we're going long-term: Tom Clancy's WIthout Remorse [because it's the only one where he really, you know, DEVELOPS A CHARACTER], C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity, and Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point.
D. -1137.
E. Well, I've been a United Methodist all of my life, but I would argue that I have a far more nuanced understanding of the meaning of that now than I did then. I blame most of that on my Reformed friends, who've challenged me to think about why I believe what I believe. You haven't changed my mind, but you've made me think more. [We shall now pause while another group of people who follow Square Pegs find out that I'm unrepentantly un-Reformed.]
F. I'll take the woods, mainly because woods are far more likely to be close to mountains, and I love living on slopes.
G. You want me to pick three songs? You are a cruel man, Osenga. This list is forever in flux, but if you make me think of three songs that I love right now, I'll say Matthew Perryman Jones's "Refuge" [off of Throwing Punches in the Dark], M. Ward's "Four Hours in Washington" [off of Transistor Radio], and ... okay, well, your "White Dove". Let's just say that my sister-in-law's passing has made me want that refuge, bunking with my dad and brother inspired a crapload of insomnia, and I'm waiting for every sad thing to become untrue. [You have no idea how much that's been in my head the last week, and how much it's sustained me. It made me want to drive over to the house and bear-hug you yesterday, but I needed to get home and sleep, and well, I also really needed a shower. Moving on.]
H. Steve Jobs, Neil Armstrong, and Barack Obama. The Steve because I would just shut up and listen to whatever he'd say, Neil because, well, crap ... HE WAS THE FIRST MAN TO WALK ON THE MOON, and Barack because, after meeting Steve, I'll have experience with Reality Distortion Fields and will be able to decide what I think about the man.
I. I am a celebrity in some people's eyes. [Let me pause while I laugh at that for at least a minute. Okay, done.] I'm raising my Dunbar number [go ahead, look it up on Wikipedia] to the low 200s. Reading things online has savaged my ability to sit down and read books. I have Nerd Attention Deficit Disorder like you would not believe.
J. Yes, but I have my own plumbing woes to deal with, and I've driven over 2400 miles in the last 10 days [including almost none today, so there]. And I like you and wouldn't have to ask directions to the house. ;)
K. Just 3? Are you kidding me? I have 600+ feeds in NetNewsWire, about a third of which are personal Weblogs of people.
L. 1) Caedmon's Call in Lynchburg, VA in April 2003. Fun for no other reason than watching Miller shake his head at the group we had down front all night long. 2) Over the Rhine in Dayton, OH in 2004. It was my first time seeing them, and it was electric. 3) The release show for The Morning, which was just plain fun and had all my worlds simultaneously colliding. I think the only thing that would have made that show better was if my parents had been there.
1. Andrew Osenga/The Normals (why else would I read your blog :), Andrew Peterson, Delirious or Jars of Clay
2. Dont watch a lot... Seinfeld, House, The Office?
3. The Reckoning, The Pursuit of God - AW Tozer, My Name is Asher Lev - Chaim Potok (three great books, not necesarily my three favorite cause I dont know if I could choose that but three that are terrific)
4. 0
5. No
6. I would live near the water.
7. Amazing Grace, For The Love of God - Andrew Peterson, Where the Streets Have No Name - U2 (this is an impossible question to answer... these are by no means the greatest ever written but they are three stinkin sweet songs)
8. Bono, Phillip Yancy, David Robinson
9. Compulsive email checker though I dont respond often, listen to a ton of music off myspace and find out about new artists, facebook
10. You wouldnt want me plumbing at your house = disaster
11. Sometimes Dave Barnes, otherwise, nothing really
12. Jars of Clay/Caedmons/Glass Harp, Mute Math/Jon McGlaughlin, Over the Rhine, The W's/Five Iron Frenzy/The Electrics (i know its four, but they were all really good)
Oh, and Andy ... your WP installation, combined with Spam Karma 2, is throwing errors on submission of comments. Comments go through, but things aren't working. I presume that Chip is still doing your site ... if he needs help upgrading stuff, tell him to ping me.
Kierstin and I are waiting for the baby to come....and he's taking his sweet time, so i'll bite....
1. This is nearly impossible for me, but at first blush I would say U2, Beatles and Dylan.
2. LOST, Arrested Development and Knight Rider.
3. Another impossible one...hmmm...CASH by Johnny Cash, Total Truth (Pearcy) and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (Berendt)
4. I would only refinance if it would save us money by getting a lower rate...I would never do a refi in order to roll consumer debt into our mortage payment. Either way, Clay Aiken sucks.
5. I became a believer when I was 8 years old but didn't understand the Gospel until I was in college and people like you, Matthew Smith, Cooley and Twit (and others here) showed me the kingdom by inviting me to live it out in community. That was never explicitly stated but looking back now I can clearly see the impact. So I would say that I've changed from religion to relationship and hopefully action.
6. If money was no option, K & I would buy a place out in Bon Aqua, TN...a farm with some land. We'd have a few dogs, some goats, peacocks and roosters. We would own our property outright and raise the goats to pay our property taxes...and I'd love to have a big and beautiful garden with lots of Japanese Red Maples. In addition, we would have an apartment in the French Quarter of New Orleans that we could use as an artistic retreat when we needed to get away. Not that I've thought about all of this ever before though....
7. Wow. Again at first blush, I would say..."God Only Knows" (Beach Boys), "Eleanor Rigby" (Beatles) "When He Returns" (Dylan)
8. Bono, Bill Clinton and Billy Smiley. (wink wink, nod nod)
9. It's alot more than three ways for me...never have I been more connected while simultaneously being more disconnected from others. Technology is a two edged sword. We are amusing ourselves to death. Also we have no privacy anymore. But i love the internets.
10. Yea I am a decent plumber. I have the Black & Decker Guide to Home Plumbing and Kevin Mann and I replaced all the plumbing in my bathroom all by ourselves. PVC pipe is very easy to work with. It's an art though. I'd be happy to help. I also have a bitchin' plumbing wrench that I bought from Home Depot for 50 bucks. It's hardcore. Call me.
11. I read Matthew's blog, Dwight Schrute's "Schrute-Space" Blog and Lauren Winner's blog.

Second best is probably the first time I saw Over the Rhine at Christmas. Third best is probably one of my years at Cornerstone Festival.... I'll pick 2001 since I saw the Normals there that year.
