we feel your pain. last night Ben and I were fighting the intrusion of tree roots (tree roots!) in our plumbing. nothing pretty or sweet smelling came out of that hole. lots and lots of sympathy.
Eesh. Rusty, leaky stuff is never good. Been there, sympathize with you. My last encounter like this entailed replacing some toilet valves, three ceiling tiles, and a printer. :-)
Being a non-home-handy-man, I can just say that this looks horrible and I wish I knew how to fix it for you. But I can't. Sorry. Hope it's not as bad as it looks.

I know nothing of plumbing (as you should know well from your shaving experience last year), but that can't be good.
