The Basement
Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 12:27AM
So pretty much all day yesterday and today I've been working on the basement of our house. What used to be the studio has become the breeding ground for "we'll figure out where to put that". And now it's becoming a smaller working studio again and I'm figuring where to put the rest of it. It's been fun, but a lot of work. I'll post some photos once I've got the new lean, mean Velvet Eagle up and running.
I stumbled upon a bunch of old Normals stuff today. It was interesting. I found a folder of all of our contracts (record, booking, publishing, etc...) and for the first time, I was actually able to understand what they said. Some were better than I thought, others were worse. Thought a lot about the "what if's" and the "if only's" and all that jazz. (I am glad we didn't go with the manager who brought his girlfriend, Bunny, to the meeting...)
Even found some undelivered letters I'd written to the guys in the band before a tour. Not sure if I'm glad I never gave them or not. Definitely made me think about a song on my Souvenirs and Postcards album called 'The Letter'.

Overall it was a good day. It's fun to get to see little glimpses of all the good things I've gotten to be a part of. And it's always scary and exciting to set things up for the next go-around, though you never know what that's going to end up being. I've sneezed so much from the dust and mustiness of the back of the basement, though, that I've lost my voice. Oh well. Third weekend this year without any shows, so it's all right. And it's been a good day...

Good to hear that the Eagle is flying again (or its baby offspring anyway). I was sad when you closed it down. Can't wait to hear what comes out of this version of it.
you are a brilliant man mr. osenga.
