Caedmon's in Quarryville, PA

I'm sitting in the hotel after our show tonight in Pennsylvania. It was an outdoor festival and we were the headliners. We played at 9 and it was pretty cold. I figured that would make people leave, but these guys were troopers and there were at least a couple thousand folks still there when we went on, and they were a great crowd. Here's a camera phone picture to really do it justice (Sarcasm intended) ...

They had some great amps for backline tonight, a good Vox AC30 and a killer Fender Blues Deville, which is one of my all-time favorite amps. So often recently the backline has only had a Fender Twin and man, that kills me. I really don't like them. They're allegedly one of the best amps out there, but I personally think they sound like paper bags full of farts. And you can quote me on that.
Anyway, they had good amps tonight, and it was great. But then the mic cable to the 57 on the Vox started freaking out and the guitars were screaming loud one second and then off the next, then all scratchy and weird, then normal for a minute. Some nights my job feels amazing and I can't believe I get paid for it, but sometimes it feels like going to work, and tonight it surely was. Just fighting the amp issues, we never had time to figure out why things were freaking out, was pretty tough. I'm so glad we had such a great crowd, though. Very awesome.
Bryan Allain, who built caedmonscall.net and is one of the main guys behind squarepegalliance.net, was there tonight. During "Hands of the Potter" I turned around at one point and saw Bryan standing there by Todd playing a cowbell. Cracked me up. That's the kind of thing I love about being in this band. Random friends come on and play cowbell. Anyway, we have to get up in like four hours to get to the airport to fly home where, I've been informed, I'll have to clean the house before my parents get to town for a visit. So I'm out. Thanks for stopping by.
